Polar Point is a location in Antarctica in the DS game first visited in Chapter 4.

Description[]

Map - Polar Point

Polar Point Map

Accessed from the east Euro Town Teleporter in the southwest; it links to the Headquarters in the northwest. The surveyor's maze is in the center east. An unnamed region, located in the center north and northeast, is blocked off until the postgame; Alpha Droid levels are higher here, though two pockets of these encounters are also initially available. There is a constant overworld snowstorm with no in-battle effects.

Despite filling the role of the continent's starting center, it is not a peaceful location, requiring the player to obtain its map from an item case and having drilling spots; however, the section on the plateau around the Teleporter does not have Alpha Droid encounters, providing an initial safe haven. Not being a true town, there are no buildings in the peaceful section, only the Teleporter. While there is a D-Site Branch Head, he is only scouting a potential location for a future D-Site. There is no Ovi Shop, and players must take the Teleporter back to Euro Town first and use its D-Site to heal or access other continents; they are returned to the Teleporter instead of a D-Site if they teleport back from the field or lose in battle while in Antarctica.

Story[]

Chapter 4

Seeking to rescue Zoe from Dr. Z and stop the Reaper's Wrath meteor, the player heads towards the Alpha Gang Headquarters, passing several NPCs who report a rather neutral attitude towards the Alpha Gang, who do not cause visible trouble around here.

Postgame

The surveyor blocking off the north area has now moved. The player cannot enter the Headquarters until recollecting the first six Stone Fragments from the Alpha Gang boss first rematches (battle (3)'s).

Returning later, the player is not blocked from entering the Headquarters, as they can challenge the Alpha Gang boss second rematches (battle (4)'s) in any order.

  • Torvosaurus S (Tie) LV45 (Red Tackle (S)); Baryonyx P (Defense) LV45 (Blue Tackle (S))

  • Torosaurus R (Attack) LV44 (Thunder Tackle (S)); Edmontonia S (Defense) LV44 (Earth Tackle (S))

North Area[]

The northern region of Polar Point (minus the west edge with the Headquarters entrance), all but two separate pockets of which are blocked off until the postgame, features higher-level encounters than the rest of the area, though their hints are the same; in the northeast corner, they instead share strategies with the Droids in the main area of Kalimba Desert. Supply Droids are unchanged in these regions, save for matching 220-vs-240 chell payouts with the other Droids.

Random (main north region)
Red Super Alpha Droids (Super Tail/Tackle/Swing; usually Scissors repeat) [220 chell (small right section and middle of north region) or 240 chell (small left section, left edge of small right section, and left of north region)]

  • All use a different move if hit by a Critical Move. All may on any turn use their Critical Move or use a move tied for highest MP remaining.
