Dinosaur King

NOTE: This page's content is true for the latest non-Japanese version for Dinosaur King; it may apply to the more updated Japanese versions, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Unknown to many, the arcade contains hidden game modes. Here are two game modes that are rarely accessed by players: The Alpha Exam, Dinoman, and Goma (unofficial titles).

Current Status: Work in Progress

The Alpha Exam[]

Access to the Alpha Exam Game Mode[]

To access the game mode, one would have to acquire a character card, specifically, an Alpha Gang member card. Next up, select the single player mode in the arcade and you will reach the card swiping section. Swipe your Alpha Gang member card first, then proceed to swiping your dinosaur cards and move cards as usual. In the first version of the arcade, you have to swipe the Gang Alpha member's card in the select menu of the player mode.

Afterwards, a new screen will appear. Select either Easy or Hard mode, and you will gain access to the Alpha Exam game mode (except in the first version of the arcade where there is no choice of difficulty).

Differences to Typical Single Player Gameplay[]

The gameplay functions similar to the single player campaign, albeit with different characters and Alpha Gang base locations.

The Alpha Gang members that the player faces would be using dinosaurs that sport Alpha Gang colors. They (AI) tend to act slightly harder and trickier than what the average player faces.

The person who will be providing hints would be Dr. Z. However, in Dinosaur King: D-Team V.S. The Alpha Fortress, if the player swipes Dr. Z's arcade card and plays as him, then Reese will replace him.

Dinosaurs used in Alpha Exam[]

(Dinosaur King: D-Team V.S. The Alpha Fortress only)

Dinoman[]

(Unofficial title)

Access to Dinoman Game Mode[]

(Dinosaur King: D-Team V.S. The Alpha Fortress and ulterior only)

The same process used for the Alpha Exam is done, except that one must swipe a D-Team member card. Interestingly enough, it does not offer a difficulty level at all. In the latest Japanese version, you must press the three buttons simultaneously on the 1P for a few seconds in the selection menu of the one or two player mode. In the first two versions of the arcade (Original and Operation: Dinosaur Rescue), swiping a D-Team member card will make you play the basic story mode with the character on the card instead of Max by default.

Differences to Typical Single Player Gameplay[]

This game mode is most likely the most difficult AI encountered for Arcade Versions that have yet to reach Dinotector/Spectral Armor and Super Dinosaurs. Hints, which are few and far between, are harder to decipher. The time to make a move also becomes shorter (Maximum decision time is dropped to 5 seconds at certain points).

The player will also be playing five rounds of nonstop combat (twenty in the latest Japanese version). Unlike the story mode, health will be restored at a slower rate (Whereas the story mode tends to restore huge quantities of health while transition between each stage). Combining this with the aforementioned decrease in hints and an unpredictable AI only proves that this is more difficult than the Alpha Exam game mode and the basic story mode.

Dinosaurs used in Dinoman Game Mode[]

On the japanese arcade game:

Goma[]

(Unofficial title)

Access to the Goma Game Mode[]

(Dinosaur King: Awake! New Power!! only)

To access this mode, you must press the three buttons simultaneously of the 1P or 2P for a few seconds in the selection menu of the 3 stages of Spectral Space Pirates.

Differences to Typical Single Player Gameplay[]

One of the most challenging AI game modes (maybe even all of the arcade versions of Dinosaur King released to date). As in the Dinoman mode, the clues are rare and more difficult to decipher and the time to decide a move is short (Maximum 5 seconds when fighting Eocarcharia in its normal form).

Dinosaur used in Goma Game Mode[]

The battle begins against Eocarcharia. After being defeated, he transforms into Super Eocarcharia. If he is defeated again he transforms into the Omega Armor Eocarcharia.
