Foolscap (Zapper) is a member of the Spectral Space Pirates. He was the second member to debut. In the English dub, he is voiced by Marc Thompson.

Character Design

Foolscap has periwinkle skin, with spiky blue hair. He is extremely skinny, and wears skin-tight, black shirt with blue markings on this side and purple pants. He wears a purple vest and a purple headband, which he uses to summon dinosaurs from. His wings are pale blue and scrawny and he has gloves with claws. It is revealed that during the extinction of the dinosaurs the impact from the meteor caused trapped in a time vortex making him and cohorts over a million years old, but his physical being seems to age around his 30's (in human aging).

Name

In English, the word "foolscap" can refer to a size of paper, and Foolscap's dinosaur, Armatus, has the Paper Sign. He also has blue hair, the same color as the Paper Sign. A similar pattern exists with the other two Space Pirates.

Personality

Foolscap is very vain and self-centered, first introducing himself to the D-Team in the dub as, "I am the mighty Foolscap, of the great amazing Spectral Space Pirates!" In Japanese arcade game stock quotes, he refers to himself as "ore-sama" to similar effect; in rough terms, it approximates the implication of "King Me".

Like Sheer, he is afraid of heights.

Anime

Ancient Rome Arc.

He first appeared in episode 3, finding the Yellow Cosmos Stone from Sophia. When he encountered her and the D-Team, he uses his Shunosaurus to get the stone, but after a though battle against him and Chomp, he got hurt and recalled his dino. He tried to get the stone again, but got tricked by Max and Rex. When he finds Sophia, he uses his Shunosaurus again, but when the Roman people threw rocks at him, he summons his Majungasaurus to scare them away. When the D-Team spotted him, they battle him and despite using Aqua Vortex and Mayfly, his two dino's got defeated by Emerald Garden and Plasma Anchor and fled after he'd lost them.

In the next episode, he was blamed by Spectre for failing to get the stone. He and Gavro then received new dinosaur cards.

Caribbean Arc

In High Sea Chase, he used a Jobaria, to pull them to Treasure Island to the Blue Cosmos Stone. When the D-Team/Alpha Gang spotted them, he sent his Jobaria to sink the ship. He battled against Spiny and Futabasaurus (Futaba Super Cannon) along with the 5 Opthalmosaurus (Ocean Panic), but they got defeated by Spiny's Ultimate Water. He lost them and said that he would bring reinforces.

Ancient China Arc

In Four Part Harmony, he used a Shantungosaurus to push a rock away, that blocked the Purple Cosmos Stone, but he was told that he needed Sanzo Hoshi. He eventually kidnapped him, but when the D-Team spotted him, they couldn't fight his Shantungosaurus, because Sanzo Hoshi would be hurt. Zoe then used the Pteranodon (Metal Wing), to retrieve him, but Foolscap summoned his Tupuxuara (Green Impulse) to get him back. Despite defeating Paris, his Shantungosaurus was defeated by Plasma Anchor, returning Tupuxuara to his card too, loosing them both.

In The Third Cosmos Stone, he used a rope-like object to capture the Purple Cosmos Stone, while Gavro and Sheer were battling the D-Team/Alpha Gang.

Ancient Japan Arc

In The No-Fun Shogun, Spectre sent him to look for the White Cosmos Stone and Sheer (who hadn't report for days). He found the shogun and forced him to tell where the stone was, but Ninja's attacked him. He summoned his Megalosaurus to scare them away, but Sheer (who had amensia), sent her Deinonychus against him, who defeated his Megalosaurus. He then fled and said that Sheer would be very sorry.

Later, he used a Tuojiangosaurus to batlle the D-Team, but lost it when Paris used Green Impulse, summoning his former Tupuxuara.

Ancient Persia Arc

Foolscap was sent in Desert Heat to retrieve the Red Cosmos Stone. He used a Pachyrhinosaurus to battle the D-Teams dinosaurs, defeating Ace with Anhanguera (through Anhanguera Dive), but lost them both through Chomp and his former Tupuxuara.

17th Century Paris Arc

He used an Ankylosaurus in All For One, when he thought that the Alpha Gang had the Green Cosmos Stone, defeating Tank with Mole Attack. He later used his Ankylosaurus and his new altered Stegosaurus, Armatus to battle the D-Teams dino's, but when he was given the location of the Stone, he recalled them both.

From the two only Armatus was later summoned to help to reclaim the Cosmos Stone, but failed when Jonathan beamed the D-Team and Alpha Gang back aboard the Backlander. He was attacked by Tupuxuara (through Tupuxuara Dive) and his former Anhanguera.

He and the others attack a Stone Age village in episodes 27 and 28 to get the Black Cosmos Stone in a volcano, facing the D-Team but retreating when Brontikens accidentally triggers the volcano to erupt. Following Seth's double-cross and theft of all the Cosmos Stones, he and the other Pirates attacked, but Cryolophosaurus froze their dinosaurs.

In episode 29, they surprise attack the D-Team and Alpha Gang, Armatus beating Tank, Spiny and Ace with Spectral Stinger. Merging the Cosmos Stones, their dinosaurs are surged with dark power from the Dark Pterosaur, and in the finale, they are turned into giant all-powerful images. Armatus tried to defeat Terry, but instead he defeated Spiny again, when he jumped infront of Terry. He also tried to attack the D-Team, but he got defeated by the combined power of Chomp's Lightning Strike, Ace's Sonic Blast and Paris' Emerald Garden, Foolscap likely finally losing Armatus (and probably also Ankylosaurus when their ship was taken over). Foolscap and the others lose their power when the Dark Pterosaur and Cosmos Stones are destroyed.

He and the other Space Pirates were seen in a space pod, complaining about Spectre's singing, asking how long they would have to listen to his singing.

Trivia

• The dinosaurs Spectre (or Seth, as he was the one Sheer asked to give her another dinosaur after Lexovisaurus was beaten) gives him are usually herbivorous, with Majungasaurus, Megalosaurus, and his Move Card Dinosaurs being the only exceptions.
• He summoned at least one dinosaur of every Element (including Normal Move and Secret) except for Fire, making him the only Space Pirate to not control a Fire Dinosaur.
• He's the only Space Pirate whose eye and hair color are the same (in his case, blue).
• He seems to have a problem with pterosaurs, as both Tupuxuara and Anhanguera (pterosaurs he once controlled) later attack and slam into him on different occasions (though an obviously second Tupuxuara also happily attacks him alongside his former Anhanguera).
