Albertaceratops belongs to the centrosaurine subfamily of Ceratopsidae, which is typically identified as having short or no brow horns and a long nose horn, despite its having long brow horns. This is because of its basal (early) position in the group, the "signature" features had yet to become standard, so it shares the chasmosaurines' ancestral features.

Trivia[]
- Dr. Taylor's arcade comments:
- Original: 2007年に記載(きさい)された新しゅの角竜だ。草食で目の上に大きな二本の角を持つ。
- Translation: A new ceratopsian dinosaur discovered in 2007. It has two large horns on its eyes.
- It is the third Bronze rarity Lightning Dinosaur card in the arcade.
- Despite debuting three waves from the end, Albertaceratops is the last new Lightning Dinosaur species in Dinosaur King, ignoring altered/armored forms.
- The TCG card image shows an Albertaceratops with five front toes and three back toes (with one small one on the side of the foot), which is scientifically accurate except that the two outer toes on the front feet wouldn't have claws. This is different from its regular model seen in the arcade, along with other ceratopsians, with four toes on the front and back feet, which is not accurate.
- Although playable in the Japanese-only versions of the arcade game, there is an unused model of Albertaceratops in the programming of the later English version of the arcade game though is unplayable by not being attached to an ID, likely meaning it wouldn't respond to a Japanese card's barcode.
